One of our Pilot’s Club members, Mike Glen, who is also Airside Operations Policy & Planning Officerat Southampton Airport, passes on a message from NATS Southampton;
“NATS Southampton is pleased to announce its participation in ‘Visit ATC Day’ on Saturday 27th October 2012. Any qualified pilot or student pilot is welcome to attend on the day with three sessions available at 0930, 1230 and 1530. Each session will last approximately two hours which includes a briefing, question and answers before visiting ATC which includes ‘Solent Radar’.
Anyone wishing to attend should contact NATS Southampton via souga@nats.co.uk indicating your preferred time. All emails will receive a response including confirmation of allocated time later in the month.”
For those that attended the Southampton Airport ATC visits earlier this year, Mike tells me that the format will be similar, but will be more focused on NATS Operations & Airspace as opposed to the airport operational side.
Any OSFS members wishing to go should book through NATS directly as per the message above. However, in order to co-ordinate transport to and from the event, and to give Mike an idea of who intends to attend, please could you also email the Ops desk on this email address (info@flysarum.com) with your preferred time, as sent to NATS. Anybody wishing to attend should also be in possession of a full UK driving license, or Passport.
Should any members wish to fly in, Mike may be able to negotiate a reduced landing fee, although this is subject to approval and on a first come first served basis (and also strictly PPR!). Anyone who wishes to fly in should also be fully qualified, or training towards a license.
